How To Stock a Bar Cart

Bar carts are all the craze and a really chic way of presenting liquor for your upcoming event. Even if you don’t drink, well organized bottles of liquor or your non-alcoholic drink of choice always looks nice. In order to build the perfect bar cart, you need to take care of a few things.

Buy a Bar Cart

In order to stock a bar cart, you need to have one. I have included a couple of my favorite cart styles at multiple price points for your budget incase you have not purchased one yet but are looking to purchase in the near future. When selecting a cart, choose a style you like, but also choose a cart that fits into your space well.

What Liquor?

Next you need to decide what type of liquor you will have. For entertaining or just for decoration, keep a favorite or two of yours and have a few options for your guests. When selecting liquor, it is important that you make your choice(s) based on the variety of drinks you plan to make. You can do a lot with Vodka, Gin, Rum, and Tequila; in case you weren’t sure what to select. I also suggest having one bottle of Champagne; you can never go wrong with bubbly.

  • Vodka
  • Gin
  • Tequila
  • Rum
  • Whiskey & Scotch
  • Champagne

Accents, Barware and Tools

If you’re not having a party, you don’t need to keep anything fresh or perishable on the cart. Once you do decide to have your party, keep in mind the items below:

Accents

  • Club Soda / Tonic Water
  • San Pellegrino or Perrier / Sparkling Water
  • Fruit Juice(s)
  • Limes
  • Lemon
  • Simple Syrup
  • Cocktail cherries, olives and/or onions

Barware

  • Short glasses,
  • Tall glasses
  • Coupes (for sparkling wine and cocktails)
  • Wine glasses (one glass for red and white is fine; especially if space is limited)

Tools

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer (for the cocktail shaker; a separate one)
  • Jigger
  • Corkscrew
  • Bar Spoon

Make it Personal

Now that you have chosen your cart, picked out your liquor and stocked it with all of the necessary tools, it’s time to add your personal touch to it. Printed straws, customized cocktail napkins or unique artwork related to the theme works. If you have the space try a floral arrangement or decor that relates to the current season.
